Dance Like Adriano Celentano in Portugal - Wine trip
What to expect
Portuguese wine is said to have a soul. In fact, it is divided into many different types and groups – green (Vinho Verde), aged white and red, fortified (port Vinho do Porto and Vinho Madeira), dessert (Muscatel), sparkling (Espumante), pink (Rosé). There are different types of soils in Portugal, from granite and shale in the north to sandy and clay in the south. This variety of natural conditions gives Portuguese wines a wide range of flavors. As early as 1756, the Portuguese minister, the Marquis de Pombal, demarcated the boundaries of the first wine-growing area with a controlled designation of origin, D.O.C.
Wines produced in such areas are subject to special controls and are certified to confirm the authenticity of their origin. Few people know that the well-known classification of AOC wines, adopted in France, has its roots in Portugal. Our journey is in the season when the harvest is ripening and the associated holidays are held throughout the country – Vindimas.
