Óbidos Medieval Festival

On weekdays, the festival grounds open in the early evening (around 17:00) and on weekends there is usually a full day of activities (from 11:00 to midnight).

 

In this edition, under the theme "War of the Queens", he depicts a 13th-century two-legged scandal with King D. Afonso III, who rejected his wife, Queen D. Matilda II, and married D. Beatrice. It is a historical animation event that uses the surroundings of the Óbidos Castle to transport the visitor to the Middle Ages, on a sensory journey full of unique experiences and great animation.  Óbidos is a place filled with amazing stories. For centuries, Portuguese kings have given it as a wedding gift to their lovers. You will learn about princesses, queens, and ordinary women who influenced the development of the city. You will also hear the legend of the conquest of Óbidos by the first king of Portugal and understand why one of the doors leading to the fortress is called the "door of treason" and the inhabitants of the city are called "moles".
